A sensible choice for the production of my film would be a british studio, as it is more likely that they would be more capable of distributing to a british film. An example would be Elstree studio.

British films are rated by the BBFC. Our film, on the basis of its opening is most likely to fall into the 12 catagory, as it does not contain any significant violent seens only psychological horror that is not sustained for long periods of time aswell as no bad language.

Evaluation : Conventions and Representation

To evaluate the compliance or subversion with the typical horror genre research had to be done to detremine what the actual typical features were, in perticular horror films have several key features, such as playing on alarm and fear aswell as featuring darkness and gore, use of pathetic fallacy and the isolationism. Frequently victims in horror films tend also to be young females, and there tends to be a utalisation of fast cuts to help create suspence.The use of a male lead as opposed to female lead challenges the sterotypical conventions of the horror genre of a "damnsel in distress" being attacked. It also subverts the dark scenery of a typical horror film and its pathetic fallacy as it is shot in broad day light rather then night. These two subversions help to create a constrast with the non diegetic soundtrack, and create a greater creepyness within the atmosphere, the on screen visuals do not match with the soundtrack and it functions almost like an enigma code, as the audience do not understand the reason for such a dark soundtrack. The opening does however comply with conventions also, the antagonist is dressed in dark colours and carries a weapon covered in blood, his face is covered creating suspense and alarm as the audience do not know who he is, and stereotypically those who cover there face are usually a threat. The shot which features a hand moving a branch out the way is another example of fulfilling typical convention, as it suggests the idea of someone watching, but the audience is unaware as to who the hand belongs to and it is gloved, again creating more intrigue amongst the audience


The protagonist is meant to be a typical lower middle class white male, this is denoted by his blue attire , and its traditional conotation of conservatism, something stereotypically associated with the middle class. He also lives in what is clearly a suburban house and owns a car again denoting his wealth. Apart from this there is farely little to say on the matter of representation.
